Hi guys,

I was looking into fitting a three phase 12v rectifier on my Johnson 35HP (AC Lightning version). But looking at the original one it's 150USD+ so thats out of the question.

Would it be possible to fit a generic motorcycle rectifier like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-solid...32?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3cc2a85794 ?

Im not sure how many Watts I need to charge the 12v battery I plan to put in the boat (90ah). If I calculate correct, and if the coil can supply that kind of ampage this rectifier would put out almost 16A?

You will get, if lucky, around 3A at full rpm. That is what the coil gives out.

Not much then,

But should be enough to keep the battery happy. Since I do not have electric starter I will only power a 27W LED worklight and a small 10W lantern and a Eagle 320 fish finder (usually not at the same time). So as long as my id? works I will be happy!

It would appear that the rectifier would be satisfactory. Actually, more than satisfactory, since it seems to also have a regulator built in. Your alternator should put out up to 5 amps.

You can make one on the cheap from off-the-shelf diodes. You need 6 of them. Here in US, we have Radio Shack stores, I don't know what you have in Sweden.
