Thinking of getting a Perfect Pass - Star Gazer Wake system for my boat.
Monterey 194FS with 4.3L MPI

Anybody done a diy job and fitted themselves, if so be interested to know how you got on, and is it simple enough job.

Mine took about 1/2 hour to install. The most difficult part was ensuring that I had the tach signal properly connected to the StarGazer control box. The satellite receiver just goes on the dash, usually, and the control box mounts under it. On the engine there is a servo that works the throttle and an addition to the throttle cable. You can run with it partially installed if you get stuck on something so you need not worry about losing any boating.
Plan on more time than I took. That way, if it takes over an hour you are fine and if it takes less you can have a beer.

I put mine on in 2006 so the details elude me. I know it wasn't really difficult although I did fabricate another bracket that I thought I needed to keep the cable up out of the way.
I will say that I'm glad I did it. It helps alot when pulling wakeboarders or even just cruising.
Go for it!

They are pretty universal, for boats that do not have a drive-by-wire throttle. I did order my gauge with by boat brand on the display.

Did you replace Tacho or Speedo gauge with the PP gauge ?

M... On the engine there is a servo that works the throttle and an addition to the throttle cable. You can run with it partially installed if you get stuck on something so you need not worry about losing any boating.

So you use existing throttle cable, that is unchanged, in effect just adding a servo motor linkage to it ? and cable back to control box ?
On their web site they ask you to choose throttle cable size .. thought they meant the cable from normal hand throttle - didn't realise that is in effect unchanged, just added to.

Did you fit Stargazer gauge instead of Speedo or Throttle ?
