Fix it or replace it?

My "new to me" pontoon with a 60 hp Bigfoot has been sluggish all season. Good with just me on board (20 mph) but with 4 on board I was down to 12 or 13 mph. Also I could not get the RPMs above 4700. WOT calls for 5800. The prop is a 14x11 and with solid info from Hswiii I bought a 14x9. I expected an increase of approximately 500 RPM. I finally got the prop on this weekend. The motor runs great, about half the noise level and great out of the hole. Problem is now my RPMs go to about 6500 and I get an over rev alarm at 6200, before I get to WOT. No way should it make this much difference. The old prop has a few nicks but otherwise "looks" OK. Question is, am I better to get a new 14x11 or have the old one repaired? I've never had one reworked before. Does it make sense financially and would it be as good as a new one? Is there something else I should be looking at besides the prop?

Have the old prop repaired if its an aluminum prop it will be about $75.00 to fix. If its a stainless prop it shouldn't run more than $150.00 to repair. You could also just use it as the spare. It sounds to me like you might have the wrong prop on now if your getting that high on your rpm's.
