fixed my garmin transducer

Garmin 178. transom mount transducer(pn 010-10272-00) gps/map unit came with the boat. Sonar part worked at first but sporadically, until it quit altogether and gave me this error msg. "Transducer disconnected sonar turned off". Apparently if the temp side of this transducer fails the whole thing quits because it thinks its disconnected. Was just about to purchase a new one and decided to try something I read about. Cut open the cable sheathing between transducer and transducer plug. 2 of the 4 wires in there are green and white. Cut them and connect them together on the plug side. re-connected the plug and depth now works! No temp readings but that doesn't matter to me. Took maybe 5 minutes.
