Fixing Glare on Fish Finder

I just bought and installed a fish finder on my 17ft fishing boat.
​Find the sun glare is so bad that I cannot see the screen unless I cover and hide under a black coat and shut down engine?
Will be playing with adjusting screen angle but find that no matter what direction I am going that the screen is hard to see.
Any ideas?

I would make a guess that some fish finders have brightness/contrast controls that can be adjusted that may help, Knowing the make and model of it may help us figure that out...
Also, I would think there might be some sort of glare cover available, but again it depends on make and model.

What I have is a Lowrance Hook 7. Will be looking some more into glare adjustments. There may be but have not found yet?

There are brightness and contrast adjustments for that unit that might help.
Lexerd makes an anti glare screen for it.

Are you wearing polaroid sunglasses when viewing? Depending on the angle of view they sometimes can mess up a LCD display. One of the truckstops up the road from has fuel pumps that the screen can not be read at all if I am wearing my sunglasses.

Is it color? If so try use the blue background my garmin had a white background set as default and I could see that very good during the day. It might even have a day/night setting.

Installed a Hook 7 on brother in laws boat. I can see it fine from 10' away.

Check backlight and contest settings, or take the boat to the store you bought the Hook from, and have them show you.
