The grease fitting for gimbel bearing on the outdrive was fell off after I pumped in the grease. Its threads were wore out. I was able to tie it back in with a 8mm. Should I be concerned? How to replace it with a new fitting? Thank you.

Maybe you could just replace it with a threaded plug and then only install the grease fitting when you need to pump in the grease. Or you could go to a larger threaded or pressed-in grease fitting, or you might could JB Weld your fitting in place. Good Luck!

tiny helix coil might be the way to go. I suspect it fell out due to corrosion.

A larger threaded zerc? Maybe a flush bushing, if you can get the correct thread.

I googled 'self tapping zerk fitting', and there seem to be a lot of choices out there. Just sayin'

just get an oversize fitting... helicoil won't work because it is a tapered pipe thread... I'm pretty sure they make fittings just for stripped holes.
