Fixing up Grandpas boat

Hello I am fixing up a 50 year old boat and there is a ton of spray foam all over what seems to be like random spots to me (someone who doesn’t know a lot about boats) like under metal benches that go across the middle of the boat. Is this spray foam important to the boat’s buoyancy?

First, Welcome aboard

it is a 2-part flotation foam, not a spray foam

there should be flotation foam. the foam is there so when the boat is swamped it still floats at the surface.
