Flaky transducer readings

I have an Eagle Strata 128 Fish Finder on my 1990 Skeeter. The transducer is an "inside the hull" mount, if that's the right terminology. It's "glued" to the inside of the hull, in the center of the rear of the hull, right in front of the drain and live well "intake".

I had some fiberglass work done last off-season, so the fiberglass it's sitting on is new - that is, the shop that did the fiberglass work no doubt had to un-install and re-install the transducer.

The problem is that it reads good sometimes, and not so good other times. Every once in a while I look at it and notice that it's "stuck" - it seems to like 0.5 ft and 900+ feet. Sometimes a reset fixes it, sometimes it takes two or three resets, or just leaving it off for a while. It's annoying, especially when it's in its multi-reset phase.

Just looking at it from up top, it doesn't look as though it's "parallel" to the ground/water, but that's a guess. I seem to recall that matters. Assuming I have to pull it out and stick it down again, any suggestions on how to do so, what "adhesive" to use, how to clean up/detach the old "adhesive"? In case it isn't apparent, I've never installed (or un-installed) something like this before.

Thanks in advance!

Dave
