I installed [on a customers rig] the flamer two billet distributor along with the 0.06 ohm coil, and the suppression wires, on a 1976 302. The issue is when the shift interrupt switch is activated I of course, lose ignition volts, witch then shuts down the module monetarily. And then shuts the ignition off for what seems to be just a little bit to long for the module to handle and it cant recover. The shift cable is adjusted correctly. I have eliminated the interrupt switch. And it wont shut off, of course it's hard to shift. I have tried putting 12 volts from the battery to + side of the coil with the interrupt switch in line and still get the shut down. I have tried to call pertronix, but get put on hold!!!!. Have any of other tech's ran into this. I'am starting to think the only option I have left is to some how retro fit a E.S.A module with the resistor setup. If it can be done.

Re: Flamethrower dist install

If I read you correctly, you're saying that the shift interrupter not only grounds the coil but also grounds the ignition module? My boat is a 470 with the Pertronix conversion. I power the module with a switched 12 volts off the wiring harness. It is independent of the shift interrupter.

Also, I have been able to get through to Pertronix tech support a few times on the phone. Last time, I sent an email with my questions and got a fairly quick response. His answer was very long, detailed, and thoughtful. He answered my follow-up questions quickly, too. Might try that if you can wait a day or two for an answer.
