I have a Yamaha F115 with original gauges. The Problem I experienced is a flashing alarm indicator " looks like an engine block" on the digital Tach gauge. The indicator is just to the right of the RPM reading and just left of the fully trimmed out possition.
The indicator flashes 4 times then pauses then another 4 period flash, repeating itself.
There are no other buzzers or indicator warnings, and the engine is running OK.
The only thing I noticed on this motor during the day and previously was it jerked and misfired, when the petrol tanks was not very full, but still had plenty of petrol of course. This may not be related.

Any input , the user manual just say's this is an Alarm for a Motor Problem

Re: Flashing Alarm Indicator for Motor Problems

Hi,
I have also a Yamaha F115 (2003). I checked in the Owners's Manual and it only give advice to "Consult a Yamaha dealer immediately."
Pros and cons with NOT writing in Owners's manual that ship with the F115 all the error codes/beeps. Yamaha probably do not want us to start "fixing" fault ourselves - they (dealer)want to do the job obviously and after all they should have all tools needed to diagnose and correct the error code.

Probably You will find the error codes in the "Service manual" ($60), but I do not have this manual so I'm not sure.
http://www.yamahapubs.com/html/itemsearch.jsp?type=OB&Year=2003&model=115TLRB&x=62&y=10

I had a Suzuki 2-stroke before and had the Seloc and Clymer manuals for my outboard and they had all the error codes for this Suzuki outboard.

If Your outboard is still under warranty just let the dealer handle this case.

I have 5 year warranty on my outboard and I will not do any "repair" on it until warranty is out. I have a trailer for my boat and my Yamaha dealer is in same town as I have the boat so it is easy to just trailer the boat with the outboard to the dealer for repair if needed.

About Your "missfire": I have also noticed that on my F115 at some occasions. The water separator was leaking and the dealer has installed a new and we will see if that will help. I will not be able to test before May or June when I will have the boat back in water again (it is winterized now).

/Bo
