Flat Panel - Now Get Program Errors

I recently upgraded my monitor to a Dell 1905FP flat panel, and now I am receiving errors (program has encountered a problem and will be closed), where I previously didn't. The computer is a Dimension 4500, with a 2GHZ Pentium 4, and 512MB of RAM. The video card is a 64MB GeForce4 MX420.

Errors are popping up in Windows Picture and FAX Viewer, along with a couple of games (GTA2 for example will not even load).

Changing a display should not make any difference, but... Most likely the video card is now using different settings. The problem you describe is most commonly (IMO) caused by bad/flaky video card drivers. Find the make/model of your card and download and install the latest and greatest drivers. Hopefully that is a quick and easy fix.

bh357, did you change resolution? If you are running a much higher resolution you may want to upgrade your video card. Get something with at least 128mb. You can get cards that are 2 or 3 steps from the "latest thing" for less than $150. I recently purchased a NVIDIA 5700 LE 256mb card for $119 and am very happy with it.

Thanks for the advice. I tried both upgrading the driver, and setting the resolution/refresh/color depth downward, but it didn't help. Also, when booting up, I get an error associated with "webscanx.exe".

webscanx.exe is a very common error, from memory (which is not all that flash these days) it is something to do with windows 2000 and virus scan (I think mcAfee) and it does no harm just click 'go away" or whatever it says at start up and it will be fine, I think an update to the latest version when using 2000 caused it.
