Flexible brake line

I have a 2008 Prestige trailer and need a 5 foot flexible brake line. I don't believe the old one is rubber. Does anyone where to buy these lines?

Try some of the off road shops. I have seen long rubber brake lines on trailers, just don't like them myself. Any trailer supply should be able to fix you up.

Your local hose supply house can make up whatever you need with DOT approved hose and crimpings. When I did my disc brake conversion, I didn't like the extra length of the rubber hose flopping about for my trailer and I had a pair of shorter hoses made up to my length for $40. Take your old one in, wait 15 minutes and walk out with a new one for I'd bet $35. Usually they also have free coffee also...

So far, I haven't been able to locate any shops making brake hoses, a little surprised. I may need to order online, but I'm not sure of the material. It seems to have a plastic coating on the line.

It may be listed as industrial hose, or could be a truck shop

I not sure where your from, but if there are any Race Car shops around your area, they should be able to make up what ever you need. SS braided line with ends, we have had them made up for our race cars. The off road truck shops, or drag racing, or roundy racing cars all use them made up to there specs.

With the entire manufacturing world becoming a......Complete products for sale ONLY place...... We DIY people are in DEEP crap.

If the original design is built with crummy parts....That is all that is left for repairs. Sad but very true.

It means there are less parts available to do a DIY repair.

At best some parts are only available from the manufacturer.

These guys do autoparts, trailer equipment and lines for semi's.
We had an old NAPA store that did the lines also, but he soldout, retired, and closed.

For a brake line? I can get a flexible brake line made for me at 10 shops within 10 miles of me.

Less parts available for DIY repair, or are you referring to components being more "throw away" oriented these days? For things like gearboxes, i can understand. But any brake or hose place worth their weight should be able to knock you up something no trouble.

Not in my part of New Jersey.
Once Farming & manufacturing left. Only auto parts and SOME appliance parts.

If you want to buy a ballast for a light, it is usually more than the whole new light fixture.

One big question I hae is could it be changed over to use hard line for most of it, then use short flexable for connecting.

Sorry I didn't post my location, it's Columbia, MO. I didn't have any luck locally and ordered one online. There were plenty of sources for rigid, but I don't think rigid would last with the movement of the axle and calipers. I though of going rigid and flexible on both ends, but decided to ordered a flexible line.

I appreciate everyone's help.

Typically, you have a rigid line on the axle and flex on each side with one flex going from the frame to a tee on the axle. You cn find those 2' rubber flex lines everywhere already made up. That is what I did with my disc brakes.
