flimsy floor /bowrider

Hello. Have a 87 searay bowrider..I have replaced floor on bow section...it lasted about a month than got loose again ...I used resin and fiberglass cloth...Is there anyway I can make it stronger? (say with a makeshift brace from floor to V section on boat)to prevent this from happening again?..Thanks,Pete44

To be frank with you, I don't think you did the job the right way. I'm not trying to be rude, but if done correctly you shouldnt have this problem. Can you explain the proceedure you used to fit the job the first time. Then we can establish what happened. cheers

tengals has a point! I just got done doing a 19 footer and it was much more than I ever imagined. I got lot's of help from these good people on this site. What is under that section you just repaired??? I learned the hard way that what is underneath is more important that what covers it.

what did you secure it to? did you just pop out the rotten part or did you pull the deck off the hull and replace the entire floor? <br /><br />floor's just don't pop up, tengals and baybum are right. you have to prep the attaching surfaces properly and use the proper tools. <br /><br />I suggest "runabout renovation" by jim anderson - avail for $10 or so off amazon.com.. it tells you the proper way to do a floor that will last for decades.

Thanks to you all...I am just an amature(as you can tell)..What I primarily did was just rebuild rotted/weak sections of the boat floor.using resin and fiberglass cloth/tape (and resin coated plywood)...I will get the book longhorn mentioned and do it right this time....Thanks again,Pete44
