Anyone know the proper float height for a 1976 Mercruiser 888 w/ rochester 2bbl? I rebuilt it this spring with a new needle assembly et. al. and it is running a bit rich. Definetly rich at idle, but also seems fat under throttle and leaves much suit on the transom. Wasn't as bad befopre rebuild.

I don't off hand know this, but the Clymers manual for your boat has this carb. in it and has the spec's in it. You can pick it up at any boating place for under like $30. will be well worth it overall.

Hog, I have the Clymers. Don't think this is in there.

Thanks Hoot, neat link, but it only covers the Mercarb. I think there are some subtle differences.

I recently rebuilt my Rochester carb (OMC) and the float setting was 19/32 inch. and the float drop setting was 1-29/32 inch. The instructions covers models 2G and 2GC Rochester Marine Carbs. Hope this helps....
