looking to switch to an aluminum trailer for my 93 scarab sprint and ran across this trailer:
http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/boa/3206059539.html

my question is, the bunks are currently too wide for my boat i believe, can i move them down onto cross braces and mount them there or are those braces not made for that? here is a pic of my transom for reference
fwefew.jpg

current bunk to bunk measurement is 37 1/2" from inside to inside, the measurement of bunks from inside to inside of the aluminum trailer is around 46

this is all me assuming that the bunks must land in the same flat part of the hull as the bunks are currently, though there is an outer flat area that seems like it could be used, though not as safe looking

trying to make purchase tomorrow so help is greatly appreciated!

Looks like kind of a crappy trailer - no fenders and what appear to be snowmobile trailer tires. Do you know how much weight it is rated to carry?

was just using style as example, looking more seriously at this

essentially i am asking if i could narrow the bunks down with different mounts since im assuming i cant use them where they are now?

That one doesn't look adjustable at all since the bunks are sitting right on the frame rails - it also doesn't have fenders, is that normal for where you are?

At a minimum you need to find out what the weight rating is. I'd say it is not rated for much since it doesn't appear to have any brakes (no surge coupler and a 4 prong harness).
The trailer looks somewhat weird because the bunks are so far back and it has that big rubber thing towards the front (not a roller - keel sits on it?)

thats what i meant, can you buy bunk mounts for center braces or are those not made for that?

my boat is ~2-2.5k lbs so shouldnt be a problem at any weight rating it would be, dont really need brakes at all

I'd give that trailer a miss. This looks like a bad attempt to rebuild a trailer. The bunk braces alone would scare me... those U-bolts will let the brace slip right out and your hull is eating rubber from the unfendered tire.

thats exactly what my question is, can i change the bunk braces on this type of trailer? will the subframe hold that kind of weight.....

Anybody that states. "worth $xxxx.xx as it sits" is usually full of crap, especially when the "sale" price is 1/3 of the "estimated" value. Walk away....
