It depends on the type of carb your motor has. There are three basic carbs. Tillotson, WB and CO. A safe setting would be to remove carb and invert it. The bottom of the float should be about 1/2 inch to the base of the carb. There are little tangs that you bend where the float attaches to the float spring pin. Spec on one carb is 13/32 inch inverted and the other carb is 1/2 inch. When you hold the carb upright the float drop position should be 7/8 inch from the base of the carb to the lowest part of the float.
