Hello fellow boaters, need help.My 15hp evinrude outboard motor 2 stoke 1987 is giving me some issues.I recently bought a new plastic johnson/evinrude 6 gallon plastic fuel tank, after installing my wife and I went to the river to test,It is leaving large pools of fuel in the water, the engine would bog down when I tried to open her up, then it died and from there I would have to prime the primer bulb and it would run for a minute and the motor would die, I had to continue this process all the way back to the launch.I did notice that the carberator was laeaking fuel this morning before we even left I had everything hooked up overnight.I think it is some kind a fuel tank venting problen but I am a newbie when it comes to stuff like this.Anyone have any suggestions or answers why I am having the problem I would greatly appreciate it.
Have a great day

open up the fuel tank filler cap to let built up pressure out to see if that changes anything....since your problem seems to have started with the new tank

if you have the old tank try it out

Want to be sure you have a J/E fitting at motor. Assuming you do, though, the O-ring on the new fitting can be very tight -- might be that the fitting hasn't fully seated in place. Work it on and off a bit, and make sure it clicks in place.
