Flooding 1976 OMC 175

I need help with my carburetor. Boats starts up after sitting a couple days and runs perfect for 30 seconds until the carb fills up with gas then floods out. I have ruled out just about everything except the carb. It has a new float, new needle and seat. I rebuilt the carb last year but never got the chance to run it. It floods so much it leaks out of the accelerator pump and side of the butterfly after I shut it off.

Ha yeah that's the plan, I'm just curious if anyone has some pointers on areas to focus on when cleaning it out that would cause it do this.

should be a holley carb

look at the float setting, and if the float is sticking.

if the original carb, then the accelerator pump is a ball style check valve. if the carb was replaced, it may have the sillycone umbrella style check valve, and if you dont cut off the pull nipple, then the nipple hangs up the float.

It's a Holley 2300c. It's the ball style. Pretty sure original carb. I've got the float set a hair low to try to stop the flooding (obviously that isn't working). Fuel shoots out of the upper part of the carb when I pump the gas so I assume the accelerator pump is working?

Make sure that the tiny air bleed holes in the Venturi body are not plugged up.

Got it purring like a kitten! Took the carb apart and the little venturi vent bracket was backwards and the power valve gasket was ripped. I did clean out all the little holes. Now off to change the gear oil and hopefully hit the lake!
