I am new to boating so please bear with me. I am breaking in a newly rebuilt powerhead on my "new" used boat. Yesterday when I was starting it, it fired up, then died. This happended 2 times. I then porceeded to flood then engine. After a few attempts (4 or 5), it fired back up.

My question is, did I do any damage or "wash out" the rings or does it take far more than a prolonged flooding? Once it fired back up, it smoked a lot, then all that went away and it ran fine (as far as I can tell). It is running a 25:1 ratio.

Just a bit more throttle at startup, you'll find the sweet spot in no time.
