Just wondering... when I was a kid, and we use to go my uncle's cottage where he had a couple of aluminum runabouts, I don't recall any of them having floor boards, just the bare hull. My question is .... Are floor boards a necessity for safety?, to save the integrity of the hull?, or are they just an attempt for a little bit of comfort in these tin cans, such as my 16' Starcraft open 3-seater?

I dont see how a floor is nessessary. For safety or any other reason.
If you dont want it dont install it. It will just add weight to your boat.

Re: Floor boards???

Thanks for the input gents ... you've helped me make up my mind. No floor boards. Saves weight (which is great cuz I'm 6'2"+ and pushing 300++), and saves me about a hundred bucks which will go towards the new steering kit.
