Floor done right?

I bought a glastron 195 Sierra this year and the floor was redone by the previos owner. I am not sure if it was done correctly. This is my first boat that is not a aluminum utility boat.

If I lift the carpet by the back I can see that he put in new plywood and glassed it in but my understanding is that the area below the floor should be sealed and filled with foam. When I look in the drain for the ski box I could see the hull. And it looks like it is open right trough except the gas tank is kind of acting like a bulk head.

If anyone has any advice or can direct me to pictures of how it should look I would really appreciate it

Thank you

Pictures, PIctures and when you think you have enough, send more pictures. Did I mention you need to include pictures? And by the way pictures would help if you are looking for any replys.

Not all boats have or require floatation foam below deck. You can add it if you want but not required in a Stringered boat.

Re: Floor done right?

hi....its ok that there is bare hull in the ski locker.....but its not ok that yu can see the gas tank....there should be a bulkhead there....this will prevent tank puncture.

lets see some pics.....did the po just lay another piece of wood over the old deck?...or did they do it semi properly? or....did he just plain ol screw up....with pics we can tell.

weither you have floatation foam in your boat is up to you......if you want it...you can install it just about any time....just cut several holes in the deck.....pour in the foam......then just put back in what you cut out !

Re: Floor done right?

Thank you for all of you input.
I have since posting this removed the carpet and investigated. I seems that he did it somewhat properly. he did not split the hull so at the front under the console there is a slight step, but it is glassed in and the bulkheads are there properly

Before i put carpet in I have to address the fuel sending unit which he went over with the new floor. I will have to cut a hole to do this. I am not sure if i cut one large enough to see the whole fuel tank or try to make the best guess as to where the sending unit would be and cut a smaller wholw where i could buy a premade flush plastic hatch and install it and carpet over it?
