Floor finishing options

Redoing the floor in my boat and I'm thinking about finishing options. I don't want to put carpet back in. I want something that's super easy to clean and simple. I was thinking about bed liner painted to match the interior.

Talking to the guy who is doing the floor and he says he is going to gelcoat over his work and he can tint the gel coat to match.

My question is does it make sense to just coat everything or should I also do the Berliner on top?

I used Overtons tuff coat, it's a rubberized non skid. I boats might sell something similar. I really like it. There are some good vids on line on laying it down. Pretty easy stuff.

Some members have had issues with the Bedliner Peeling and Flaking after a while. It's not really intended for the Marine Environment. Just wanted to let you know what others have posted about their experiences.

Started looking into tuff coat, are there any comparable products? Looks like tuff coat may be hard to get here in Canada.

I coated my new floor with 2 part fiberglass resin and no fiberglass mat. I then glued marine carpet over it. If I were to do it over again, I would use vinyl coating like the new Bass Trackers have from the factory. Even though I'm very anal about my boat, the carpet is already showing wear after 3 years,, and I only get in the water about 8 times a season. It was quality Overt@n carpet, I expected better.

For simple and easy, just go with gel coat and nonskid grit, it will last a very long time.

Every type product you can think of has its problems and benefits. Even bedliner or tuff coat has their issues as well. Bedliner does fade over time and looks bad. And it can peel if moisture gets underneath it. So every type floor finish has its pros and cons. You just have to decide what YOU want and willing to deal with...

I'm in the same situation and I think I'm going to gel coat the floor and add some sand to the gel coat to get the anti slip

With gel coat it can be as aggressive as you want it to be, the type and size of grit, plus how much gel coat you put over it will fine tune the feel.
