I am preparing to take the floor out of my 16' avenger... soft spots. Question is, should i try and save teh original peice of plywood for a template or what? And if so how do I get it out in one piece? I will post pics hopefully soon (just got a digi camera). I have looked at share a project and they used a dremel. I am afraid of going too deep and tearing into fiberglass hull. Any help, advice.

Re: Floor Job

In my case it wasn't possible to save the old floor, there wasn't enough left for a template. I've heard a couple of people say to use card board to create a template after it's all clean. That's my plan.

Good Luck!
Jeff

Re: Floor Job

you use the cardboard from the appliance boxes to cut and fit a template. the card board is the trial and error piece. you can work withit to get the best fix. then you cut that expensive plywood. there is contoversy, but i say, after 35 year of woodworking, seal all the edges and surfaces before you install you plywood. then come back ove the top and reseal. water is the #1 enemy of wood.
