I am replacing a floor in a Blue Fin Spectrum 17' aluminum fish N ski bow rider. This is a first for me so I am seeking advice. I have tore out all of the old floor and removed cushions which were rotten as well. The foam was all dry. I will be applying carpet to floors. Some questions:

What type of plywood should I use?
What type of epoxy/resin?
Has anyone used/replaced carpet with snap in carpet?
How should I join seams?

When tearing out the old floors they were not glassed together or glassed to side boards. Should I replace similarly? Does water just go to bottom of boat and then the bilge takes care of it?

Carpet goes up sides to top edge and a metal trip piece holds it in. How hard is it to remove and replace carpet in these areas and how do I remove the trim strip?

Re: Floor repalcement

russdog,

I just finished my deck, and it was my first as well. I used exterior grade plywood, Elmer's Resin with Elmers Mat.

Here is the way I did it.

I cut the new piece to shape, I then Resined the botom with two coats of resin, fliped the board over and resined twice again before moving the deck into the boat, I then had my wife help me, I placed a large bead of Subfloor cement on the top of all stringers, I then secured the deck to the stringers using stainless steel screws. I also scuffed the deck and the 6-8" of edge of the existing deck. I had her mix as I layed the fiberglass. After the initial coat was done, I placed one more coat of just resin on the top.

Make sure that all areas have resin, no bare wood.

here is my post of the work I did.
