Hi everyone. I decided to change my carpet on my 91 170 freedom four winns today. Sadly ( not really to my surprise), I found the plywood boards under the captain's chair rotten. It seems like the floor consists of there are 4 sheets of plywood layed up against composite (fiberglass). Does anyone know how these boats were built? What I mean is are the stringers made out of wood (most likely) and where else is there wood on this boat. It seems that if I go aft where the battery sits, the deck is straight up composite. Please help. I don't want to have to end up scrapping my boat. Thanks all.

I was in the same spot as you last fall. Your boat is built like most of that era and probably still today. Wood deck on top of wood stringers fiberglasssed to the hull. Floatation foam fills all the spaces below deck and likely water has gotten below.http://picasaweb.google.com/pacerdude/EntireDeckReplacement89Celebrity224se#
Here is the story of my adventure..22 ft 1989 Celebrity
our boats are probably built the same way.
