I have an 18ft cobia sportster bowrider with OMC 140 I/O. I have seen boats with floor storage in the middle, between the back to back seats. The only storage on this model boat is under the removable bow cushions and under the jump and lounge seats. I'm wondering if anyone sells floor storage installation kits or is this a make your own deal? It is a v-hull design so I'm assuming that there is some room under the floor?

Re: Floor Storage

Just depends on whats under the floor in that area. To find out you'd have to cut open the floor. There might be stringers or even a fuel tank under there. Mine was built in with the boat so it was designed for it. I believe they call it a "ski" locker, but I call it an "anything that fits" locker.

they are designed in the construction. 99% chance you have a center stringer, and cutting it will compromise the construction stablity of the boat. being an OMC 140, that vintage Cobia has the center stringer, i've replace the floor in one.

Re: Floor Storage

the are the backbone of the boat. they run length wise, the boat. and are the basic frame.
