Hi Gang- I was operating under another user name but it’s been a while and I forgot my password and it’s not recognizing my username or email. So first timer...I guess...

Now if you’re like me, most of the projects you do, it’s the first time you’ve done it, which makes every project an adventure!!

I tore the carpet out of my bass/ski boat and went back-and-forth about what to replace it with. I went with a roll of that vinyl and it was a total B to put in...again, first time every time.

It’s a good quality durable product that looks super nice, but the glue takes forever and a day to dry and if the edges aren’t prepped/cut/glued perfectly, they look like crap and they can peel up. Plus, glue squishes out the edges and you end up with a mess to clean up. Of course, I think it’s better for wrapped edges. Of course, this is all because of my lack of experience and total user error, but that’s most of us.

So i can’t believe the amount of research, reading and himming and hawing I did next. Spray in bedliner-quote: $1500...I can afford it and it still ain’t happening. DIY Herculiner, Duraback, Tuff Coat, etc, etc, etc. I’m far from a YouTuber but it would sure be nice if someone did a video comparing all of these.

i went with KiwiGrip and I was your typical skeptical pessimistic thinking nothing compares to a spray in bedliner. It won’t be tough enough, will be a peeling rubber mess...I was wrong. The application was as easy as can be expected. I sanded all the way to the edges and was careful with masking. It goes on easy-although I found going slow with the roller is best.

Did it in the shade in the evening and by the next afternoon, after a 70 degree day, this stuff is rock hard and there to stay. It’s rough enough but not too bad. I might do another coat someday and might tint it a bit darker. The “gray” is pretty light, but that’s also good on hot days with bare feet!!

I’ll post a follow up after some time, but for those looking for a flooring replacement, KiwiGrip is hard to beat. I plan to re-carpet the casting decks, but this is a great option for the main floor. Let me know if you have questions.

I’ll be doing my transom next with the Arjay pourable compound...stay tuned!!

Looks good. Will be interesting to hear how it holds up over the long haul.

How is it in bare feet?

Kinda pokey...but not painful. I heard you can lightly run sandpaper over it to knock it down a bit, but I’m afraid to do it since it looks so nice.

This is has gone from 50/50 family/fishing to about 90% fishing. Plus I’m keeping the carpet in front and back casting decks.

Got it all new Tempress seats today in the mail. It was $1800 to reupholster and $1100 for all new...easy choice. The bench seat has a tiny rip out of the box. I emailed the company. We’ll see how they handle it. Anyone experience Tempress customer service?

Wow, I am certainly impressed with Tempress. As I said before I am a constant skeptic, but this morning they responded apologizing and are shipping a replacement out today and they will pay to have the damaged one picked up from my front door.

Customer service is not dead...at least not at this company.

Oh, and all new seats in a boat are awesome. If you’re thinking about it, do it. It changes the whole boat.

Quick update: the KiwiGrip seems to be a good durable product, but I’m not digging the yellowish stains I’m getting. Probably from my carpets getting wet and running down onto it.

The light gray is not the best option for stains and showing the dirt. Anyone have any experience with any products cleaning it up? I did a typical soap and scrub brush. It may just be baked on. Maybe a bleaching product?
