we went to live oak florida this fall to get this catahoula pup. we had lost our other catahoula in sept. and had been looking when i found this litter. these picts were taken nov 5. i was loading them for another project for my wife and though i would throw them on here for you guys. i had him at the marina on lake mead and i was suprised at number of people that asked what breed he is and how many had never heard of catahoulas.

nope no pit bull. old yeller in the moive was a catahoula. used to be called curs but when they became the state dog of louisiana they used the catahoula name. allso caled leopard dogs.
red wolf, greyhound, alano mastiff, and a dog known as the "Bas Rouge," or Red Stockings. This dog has also been called the "Berger de Beauce." Today that very dog is known as the Beauceron.
the red wolf came from native indans, the greyhound and mastiff from hernando desoto, and beauceron later brough by the french early in the 1700.
one of if not the oldest breeds developed and breed in the us
they hunt and track being able to both ground and wind scent, bay and tree.
they are equally good at working stock and make very good watch dogs.
this guy came form near jacksonville so i would guess tasshasdaddy to know about them
