Flushing the motor Question

I flush the motor after each use for 10min to make sure it is clean. The other day I decided to start her up and black muck came out and then fresh water came again. This has happened twice now. I did run in some real shallow water a while back that took me a while to get out of. Do you think that the dirt is still in there? If it is why won't flushing it clean it out?

it may just be some rust and scale it will come out black and mucky when some builds up and then breakes lose<br /><br />tommays

all boat motors are in a state of rusting away it is normal <br /><br />water destroys a boat but you cant float with out it<br /><br />tommays

I had the same problem. the boat was sat up for a long time and I started the boat this boating season and black mucky water came out and then clean water. Took the boat out and flush it when we came back from boating the water this time was clean. I start the engine up about twice a month before I take the boat out and the water that was flush out of the system is clean. As tommays said "rust.. it is normal".

Very true.<br /><br />I've sort of minimized the problem of its growth a bit by draining the block and manifolds of my I/O while its still pretty warm when I get it back on the trailer.<br /><br />If you trade boats pretty often its no big deal, but I've sucessfully babied this 1968 Chevy along pretty well doing that.
