Hey, I was just thinking about one of these, so I'll resurrect an old thread.

I'm going to buy the plans for $119, and they have a parts kit for the boat that includes almost everything you need for about $5k. Looks like a lot of fun, and the videos are crazy.

Anyone else looked at these?

One other attractive thing about them is that you can get something close to your money out of them... once built, one of these in good working order sells on ebay for about $7k-$12k. I figure I could build one using high quality materials for less than $10k.

If nothing else I'd set new records for trailer loading... just drive out of the water, up the ramp, onto the flatbed, and get out and into the truck :)

Re: Flying Hovercraft

Well, I'd probably use this mostly for the lakes around here... any lake in MN except superior is pretty much flat water. And on a good day this could go on superior too, since it can fly above 10 foot waves... obviously I'd want to not try and land in that water though.

It runs on a 80-120 horse subaru engine... I think I might use something different, but I'll have to see when I get the plans. I would figure on building it as a strange boat and outfitting it with a VHF, GPS, etc.

I really love the ability for it to take off and fly... I've always wanted to do that. Plus you have to figure it'll get better mileage than my boat if it's not touching the water :)

Re: Flying Hovercraft

275 hours??????......(construction time)

youll be done in 3 months!!!!!!!

mythbusters did a flying machine....i think they had a very small...light...motor...at or around that hp......

i know of a guy here....(an old gerase monkey) that just for the fun of it is getting amazing amounts of hp out of very small 2 stroke motors....well over 120.......since your driving a fan...i dont think you would need a lot of tourque.......

if you increased the budget and went carbon fiber, kevlar or graphite and lost the plywood...you would probably cut the weight by a 3rd.

soooooo....how into this are you?....you've got my blessings.
