I bought a boat that does not have an engine. I was told it had a 4 bolt 350 in it. I have a 350 from a 1991 that I was going to use in a different project but decided not to continue. I would like to put that newer engine in the boat but the flywheel housing is not big enough for the newer flywheel. Is there a replacement housing I can get or do I need to find a whole engine?

I am running a 153 tooth SFI flywheel on my BBC in front of an AQ290DP.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... Hopefully, the block of yer new motor is drilled for both the staggered bolt pattern starter on it now, And, the straight across bolt pattern starter yer gonna need to go with the 153t flywheel you need to mount it to yer drive,...

If the hole is not drilled do not panic. I have drilled and tapped the extra inboard hole. With the engine on a stand flip it over, mount the 2 bolt starter using the outboard hole tightly so it will not move. Square up the starter lining it up with the rear block surface. With a piece of 3/8” tubing inserted in the hole to hold the smaller bit but snug start the hole. It is ok to drill all the way through the block flange. Next with the proper bit for 3/8”X 16 and a new tap along with tapping oil take your time and tap the hole.
