Flywheel Magnets

My flywheel magnet is loose and I need to fix it will JB Weld hold up or not.<br /><br />It is an 88 Force 125.

welcome to iboats.<br />Yes. I've heard of folks using a 2-part epoxy to re-bond magents here on iboats. If you want to research this, try your search in Johnnyrude outboard, because that was the motor I remebember reading about.<br />But JB Weld is tough stuff, as is Marine Tex. JB Weld is impervious to heat. I've even read thier adds, where they claim to have repaired scored cylindersd with that stuff.<br />Just be sure to secure the magnet in it's old position, or your timing will be out (but you proly allready knew that).

Duro 2 part epoxy works good. The flywheel and magnet should be realy claen.

Personally I haven't been very impressed with JB weld. I've tried to do a couple patches with it and it failed. Then I found a much better epoxy that I swear by called PC-7. You can get it at most hardware stores. This stuff is simply amazing, bonds to almost anything, and is much, MUCH stronger than JB weld. And no, I don't own stock! :^)
