Just a quick question. We are swapping a 4 cylinder Mercruiser 2.5 to a v8 350 chevy 5.7 and wondering if the same flywheel will work?? If not is there one that we can get to fit that? This is for an 88 renken. Any help would be great. (This is the wife...just translating)

Do you know that the engine will fit in the boat. How did your 4 cylinder mount in the front right ?

Is it also true that we need a motor with a one piece rear main seal? We measured to make sure the v-8 would fit.

From all the articles I have read. 86-87 is the year they switched from 2 piece to 1 piece rear main seal. The fly wheels are different because of that. Plus the v8 and the 4 cylinder flywheel are different part numbers in the book.

The 2.5l Flywheel, Even If it bolts up, will Not Work.......
Yes, You can find the Flywheel you Need......
Your 350 block will determine Which Flywheel you can use,
As well as Which Starter.....
Then you'll need a Coupler that'll work,
With both you Motor,+ Outdrive......

Is your 350 a 1 piece, or 2 piece rear main seal...............
For what you want to do,
An Early model, 2 piece seal block would be the way to Go........
