When did the use of floatation foam in the manufacturing of fiberglass boats start??? And was it used by all Manufacturers???
I am asking because I inherated my dads 1971 Westwind (Aquasport) 18ft boat, and am wondering if it has foam or not???
I think the flooring is getting a bit spongie, and I'm trying to figure out what will be involved if I deside to redo the sub-structure next year (I replaced the transome this year).
Thanks

I don't really know when or who used the foam, but my 1958 true Ski had foam under the floor.

seems like they started requiring flotation about 1971 or so. Memory isn't as good as it once was so I could be off a little.
