Fogging an '07 20hp yammy

I'm putting away the motor after duck season and want to fog it, but the air intake on the carb has a filter over it. It looks like the bolts that hold it on also hold the carb on. Do I spray oil through the filter or am I missing something?

That's not an air filter(outboards don't have em) it's an airbox and it screws to the carbs...take screws out, be careful of the two(usually two, maybe one on that motor) small hoses snapped onto the bottom of it on back, pull them(it) off after pulling the box away an inch or two to get access....and there are the carbs. It's much, much, much better to run engine once a month than to fog and let sit for four months though.

easiest way for that engine is mix 4OZ two stroke yamalube to 1 gallon of gas,add your stabilizer then run the engine 15 minutes or so.
then crack both carb drain screws and drain the fuel bowls.
this will leave enough oil to protect the shiney parts for some time.
I have seen 1/8" holes drilled in the airbox inline with the carb venturi openings so the red tube from the fogging oil can may be inserted.
the important part is the additional oil to protect the shiney metal inside the crankcase during long term storage and the reccomended 100/1 fuel oil mix simply wont do it.

Thanks for the info. I'm in Vermont, so running the motor is not an option 'till next April, I'll use your advice and fog it now.
