I have done a search a can't really come up with the exact procedure. I'm doing my friends I/O and I know about draining and refilling with antifreeze but how exactly do I fog it. Can I just run the engine and spray fogging oil down the carb like on an outboard or do I need to run it through the carb mixed with gas? Thanks.

right down the carb is fine. run motor, oil till shes smoking, then go a little heavy on oil and shut down. personally we like marvel.

fuel injected you run it thru the system...

It would be best to overload with fogging oil after you have fogged for about half of the can until it stalls.Stalling instead of shutting it down will assure you more complete coverage and protection.Charlie

One dealer I used to work for had us use 2-stroke oil down the carb. Most recent one had me close the choke after fogging to kill the motor, then restarting with the throttle wide open and shutting it off as soon as the motor got some good RPMs. I like both ideas.

Don't forget to stabilize the gas.

Willy B,I dont like that idea of starting the motor after fogging. You will be burning off the coating of oil on the combustion chamber and pistons. The high rpm does not sound good either.I would recommend against that method.Charlie

Willy B, under no circumstances should any engine be run at wot rpms on the muffs. Closing the choke floods the engine with gas and washes off the coating. As Charlie says starting it back up is also counterproductive.
Stay away from that dealer.

no offense to first poster, but Willie, just read the merc manual, it says exactly what to do. re-starting the engine is not one of them. then again maybe that dealer knows something merc's engineers don't.

Yes WWYC the dealer does know something that the merc techs dont.He knows how to dramatically reduce the life of an engine. He is either a really busy dealer from the motors he kills or he is a really slow dealer because of the unethical practice of killing your motor a little more everytime he winterizes it.I am curious who this dealer is?????Charlie
