I am so happy i could do cartwheels if i wasnt so old and out of shape. Update on my project. Bought a 26 ft. Tiara with the dreaded 470 (twins no less) that was covered in mold and pine needles that sat for 2 years on the real cheap. I did a compression test before i bought and all around 150lbs. (maybe my tester was stuck) Got it home and fogged it and tried to start them on an external gas tank. (not even knowing what a water pump impeller was. never owned a boat or worked on one)Port motor started and i watched the temp climb past 150 right up to 180 (i did have muffs on)where i shut it down. Starboard motor would turn over but would not fire. After seeing the port motor climb the fire wheel decided to have a look at the impeller and the flappers. No impeller or flapper present. Replaced both and found broken off and missing exhaust riser bolts and after drilling out and reassembeling using all the new parts recommended. Started the port motor and it runs like a new motor. (though not under load yet). Doesnt go past 148 f. On the starboard motor i am not getting spark at the coil. I replaced the points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires, and coil and still no spark at the coil. Anyone know which wire is the tach? There are 2 wires on the pos of the coil. I found a dwell meter on fleabay that i will try to use when i get spark. I think i will figure out the spark issue soon enough. Just wanted to thank all of you for your help in me getting the port motor running. 2 years sitting in my yard and atleast 2 more under the pine tree from the po, so thats at least 4 years without running. Better get that starboard to go soon.
