Anybody else have them? You may have them and not even know it. You may think certain aches and pains are just a part of growing older but they maybe a sign of a food allergy. Wheat and Wheat gluten allergies may cause Arthritis type symptoms. I was having terrible knee problems until I cut out eating toast, wheat containing beer and went to eating gluten free corn chex and Coors lite. Coors light claims to not Contain wheat and I believe it. FAQ - Is Coors safe to drink on a wheat free diet? . I was also having muscle aches and pains for no reason ie shoulder, hips, legs etc that seemed to go around in circles. Now there is a whole field of the medical profession that is dedicated to food allergies. Dieticians to help you plan your meals
Wheat allergy and intolerance information on wheat-free.org is a good site for checking out the symptoms
I get allergy fatigue. I have to be careful with what I eat for lunch or all I want to do is lay down and take a nap. Wheat/gluten, eggs, cheese, butter, milk and peanuts are no no's That doesn't leave many food options. I have a strenuous job so being fatigued is not good at all and it happens a lot because I have a hard time sticking to a diet of none of the above.
Hard to tell the difference between Celiac disease and a Wheat allergy
Celiac disease - sprue - PubMed Health This is a good site to learn about Celiac disease. I may have Celiac. Never been tested for it. I rarely go to a Doctor. Allergy to wheat gluten that can be deadly if not treated.
I thought a good topic as Thanksgiving approaches and many eat stuff they wouldn't normally eat

Well that is a whole different problem. Much of America is doing the same thing. That is why many Airlines are charging extra for the fat customers LOL Obesity--heart disease, diabetes etc etc. But then again that is a topic for another thread and not this one

Yea, Coors lite is not approved for people with Celiac disease according to that link I posted

Yup, barley . . . another fine source of gluten. Wheat, barley, rye . . . most oats, as they are grown in fields also used for wheat.

You can get pure oats, grown in special fields, but in my research I came across something about 20% of Celiacs are also allergic to oats regardless.

I also share the same allergy as aspeck described . Before discovering my wheat allergy, I could eat as much as I wanted and not gain weight . . .

I love oat meal but can't eat it on a regular basis. I start getting very weak and lose weight. Really noticeable because of my strenuous job. People who don't have Celiac or food allergies will never understand. Just like other problems people have that are not visible. I stay around 10 lbs over weight which is not too bad. I do a lot of exercising and do not eat after 6 pm or many in between meal snacks. But I sure don't eat a healthy diet LOL

Celiac. Me too. Have been slowly loosing weight for 30 years though I eat like a wolf (wife calls me Jethro). Shtt hit the fan couple of months ago. Was loosing pounds a day. Got down to 122! Hospital stay as internals were damaged. Pissing blood. Nearly cashed in. Because of wheat of all things. Always just though I had an "active" system. Also have skin problems related to celiac. Real drag. If your using the head a lot go get tested. Sorry if TMI but people have died because of this.

I was fairly fortunate. . . was seeing GI doctor for the weight loss (about 20 lbs., so 139 lbs was my minimum.) and chronic diarrhea . . . All kinds of tests, etc with no real findings or results . . My sister-in-law , a nurse practicianer, happened to be studying up on GI disorders, etc. and suggested that I may have Celiac.

So, I called the GI doc up and said "celiac" . . . he thought for a moment and replied . . . "could be . . . we can test you for that". Historically, it has been low on the list of things that people get tested for . . . It is probably working its way higher up on the list.

After stopping the wheat, I felt like a new person in about 2 days . . . put the weight back on in a few months. It sounds like your situation was much more progressed. Definately some long term health issues. I have heard of some people experiencing abrupt hair loss, etc from it.

i can not have bell peppers, no idea what it is about them but i can tell with in a few mins that something had peppers in it or had been in contact with peppers. after eating anything with bell pepper im in major stomach pain for about 4-8 hours. i have found that most of my problems were from the canteen where peppers were cooked on the same grill as the food i ordered.
