Foot Oil Comng out of these Thingys???

Just bought 1992 26ft Rinker Fiesta Vee 260. Changed the foot oil. Took boat out this weekend and when I went to flush and clean boat up I noticed noticed foot oil coming out of vent thing that you put muffs over to flush engine (not sure what these are called). Wasn't coming out fast just a slow trickle. Also noticed the foot oil leaking where the lower unit and upper unit are bolted together, where the meet. Its very slow leak as well. Thinking a seal or gasket might need to be replaced there. Does that sound like a possiblity? If Thats the case would it seep down from there and cause to come out of the vent thingys? I did unscrew the foot drain to see what oil looked like and it didn't look like there was any water in the oil.

Also trying to figure out how to identify what carb rebuild kit i need. Its a 5.7 mercruiser. Looked at carb. The only number I saw was "8822". No other numbers were on there.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,....

Yer gonna need the Serial numbers to find yer part numbers of what ya need....

as for the Drive leakin' oil,...
Ya, there's several seals that can be the Problem....
Probably oughta have the drive pulled, tested, 'n serviced to fix yer leaks...

You didn't by some chance just put an impeller in it did you? If you did, did you put the quad ring in the oil port?

PS, it's an outdrive, not a foot, and it's leaking gear lube, not foot oil.

yeah, sometimes called a "leg", never heard a foot though
sounds like the quad ring (o-ring between upper and lower drives). That would account for both of the leaks you describe.

Hmmm not sure where I got the word "foot" for the drive but anyones free to use my new word as I will not have it copyrighted at this time
