Looks like a designer GoPro, or some industrial design student's class project.

But the voice control is pretty cool I guess.

I would try it if they paid me or it was free. But me paying $1500 for a beta trial? No thanks.

I think I would look pretty foolish talking to my sunglasses.

I love it, no wonder Google stock is almost $800. It's brilliant. Remember the Google Chrome netbook they gave away initially? Nobody does, you don't hear much about it now with all the tablets.

Apple and Microsoft do this every time new products are released only there is no contest. They just sell the newest thing and issue patches to the early adopters that line up and camp around the stores for days prior to the release. Just no contest.

This time by having a contest and a measure of exclusivity, the free PR is priceless. Pics of Eric Schmidt (Google CEO) wearing these have been tickling nerds fancy for months. I bet the entries are overwhelming Google and they are having a good laugh. All these entries represent a person that is willing to pay to test and develop a new product.

Now, did I enter? Are you kidding? I see it as one more thing that that takes your mind and attention away from the task at hand. Like driving and working. We have too many toys.

Pretty crazy. I remember talking about this type of technology back around 2000. I guess it's only natural that google would be the one to implement it.

Probably looking at the future right there.

since google won't recognize my biz (up untill late sept.2012 i was recognized then went pending status for an unknown reason that they won't let me in on) on google places (formally google maps). i don't recognize google or any of their products that want my money.
and. i'm already paying their guinea pig prices in such that they've reduced my income by way more than $1500 over the course of 5 months of non recognition of my biz. their experiment is how can a global industry step on and discriminate and run a small one man business out of business. f google. i have nothing but contempt for them at this time.

Funny. When I read the thread title I made the assumption that Google was paying $1500 for guinea pigs, er, beta testers. Guess I won't be participating.

15 years ago they were on about the same type of glasses to be used in industry to help tech's. The idea back then was when you called for surport both the tech on the ground and the one on the phone would put on the glasses and be able to use prints etc on the display screens to work together. if i could write code then i would pay 1500 to get this project back on line but as im dumb and poor im going to wait till someone does all the work then get my company to buy them so i dont have to be called out during the night :D

I can see where it might have some real value. Say you are working on your boat engine. Pull up a narrated video of the task you are doing, say a tune up. Could be a real plus.

Not that I would spend $1,500 to be a umm, beta tester.

i can see a day when you will pay $30 a hour to have a marine mechainic helping you while hes at a pc and you are working on the boat wearing the glasses. As the skilled labor retires and the youngsters are clueless when it comes to using your hands this could be the start of the modern world.
Think of a future where you need to fix something so you put on the glasses then call a pro whos going to help you fix everything from your dishwasher to outboard.

So I wasn't alone with the same issue...
