Ok, I'm currently rebuilding a 1975 Mark Twain V200 from the bottom up. I pulled the engine when I started and its been sittin in the garage waiting patiently for attention. Yesterday I un bolted the carb and did some research on the internet but I couldnt find any rebuild kits that worked with my exact Mercury part number. I went to Autozone but they were no help. I tried NAPA and after a few phone calls the guy told me he found the kit I needed but it was a special order part. It was gonna cost $100 bucks for the kit and $17 for the float!!! Is that a lot of green for a rebuild kit or am I that cheap? The engine is a Mercruser 888 (ford 302). The carb is a Holley 2brl, Mercury Marine p/n 1358-4532A1. My service manual calls it a Holley model 2300-C. I did come across a rebuild kit here on Iboats with the same p/n I got from Napa (18-7081) for $80. I'm not familiar enough yet with differences from auto and marine engines but i'm tryin to catch up with you guys. This just seems really high for a rebuild kit. The kit for a automtive Holley 2300 is only 20 bucks at Jegs. What makes the marine version so special?
