The drive is a 1987 Mercruiser MC1
You will have to check the drive itself for gear ratio.
The 48- prop is a Mirage 15.25 X 19P
Have no idea on the other numbers

Re: ??? for don or any one

The MC1 (One) is just Mercruisers designation for that drive, like Alpha I or Alpha I Gen II or MR etc. The gear ratio can be found by counting the teeth on the gears.

Catchem
Yes, I am a marine mechanic. I have a program on the computer that allows lookup of serial numbers for Merc products.

Re: ??? for don or any one

I'm not sure what is going on with that drive. While it says it's an 87 MC1 drive, Merc didn't use the 1 drives in 87, they used Alpha's, I can only guess that this was a drive manufactured later to fit the older MC1 transom shields. Personally I have never tried to stick an old model drive on a newer transom sheild, so I couldn't say.

Sounds like it's an Alpha drive, have no idea why Merc calls it an MC1.

If you use silicone, you should be beat about the head and shoulders with a big stick. ;)
Mercruiser sells new orings for that purpose.

PS: had you looked at a service manual, you would have seen this picture.

Re: ??? for don or any one

Ok, I now know what you have there. It's a replacement drive (BY Mercruiser) for the MC1 drive. It has the newer 1:47R gear ratio like the Newer Alpha I Gen II drives, only in the older drive. It will fit, and the gear ratio is close enough to the 1:50 you normally had.
I put the stick away, and guess rodbolt put his rope away also :D You can take your tubes of silicone and find a carpenter friend and let him have them. There are some specific spots on engines (Not drives and transom shields) that specific types of RTV are recommended. But those are special types for a specific purpose.
Both Silicone and Teflon Tape are things way overused and expected by the inexperienced to be the "Duct Tape" or "Swiss Army knife" of sealers, when in fact they both cause more problems than they cure.
