Joe - You gave a procedure for adjusting timing for a 40 hp Evinrude in a post "Evinrude Timing Questions" on 10/31/02 where you check the timing without running the engine (Timing at Cranking Speed 4 degrees).

Will that procedure be good for any engine - like my 1988 OMC 1.6L SeaDrives?

Howard
Miami Fl

SoLittle.... Do the girls question what that handle insinuates?(grin... Couldn't resist).

Okay, back to business. The timing procedure I listed is not proper for just any engine, however it is exactly what you're looking for. That procedure is perfect for your 1988 1.6 SeaDrive.

Re: For Joe Reeves - Timing Questions

Thanks Joe - You just saved me a days work. I was planning to follow my manual - drag the boat to the ramp - run it up on the trailer & check the timing - go back home & do the wash down (due to salt water).

On the handle - I hope my girl of 40 years dosen't see your comment - no tellin what she might say.
