Hi,KC Have found out what size this thing is.Took it to local prop shop the man there checked it out says its a 14 X 25P he called it some nickname that begane with a (B) can't remember what it was, But said he hadn't seen one like it in a long time. This thing has a high degree of (RAKE)and (CUP) in the blades witch also effects the pitch. It has so much (RAKE) 30 degres or more, that if I set it on the table with aft end or "prop tip" on the table. The hub will not touch, it has a 5/16 gap between the table and hub.The (CUP)or concave in the blades is the same way, if I lay a strieght edge across the pitch line and the rake line, I have a 5/16 gap.Do you still think I should get a 4 blade 27pitch to see if I get the hole shot im looking for.Went to mercury web site they said to get a (TEMPEST PLUS 27p)What are your thoughts. Thanks Joe

No, No, No,

27P is way to much... You need to go down in pitch to improve your hole shot... Like I mentioned in the previous post, I recommend a 4-blade Trophy or similar somewhere around 24P to 25. and make sure it has exhaust vent holes .... You don't want to lower the pitch much so your WOT rpms won't go higher than 6000. A 25P Tempest, Lazer II will probably be ok also (3-blade)... Must have the vent holes, if that Hooter prop had them I bet you would be ok... You can drill them yourself by the way...

Modification

Thats why I asked first.I dont need to raise the pitch,I need to lower it to 24p with the vent holes.Sorry about the (27p it was a typo)I meant 24p.The prop shop should be able to drill holes for me, wright. But I will keep looking for another prop anyway.Dont think I wont to try it my self, with my luck, I would screw it up.Thanks again KC.

JA,

Keep in mind that lowering your pitch will raise your WOT rpm... You don't want to go above 6000rpm. So try the vent holes first before spending money on a 24P prop. I'm leaning to the side of a 25P with vent holes... Go ahead and drill the holes yourself, it's not that difficult. Just need a good way to measure the locations, punch the starting point and drill, following the directions in the procedure. Start will small holes and work your way up if needed..
