I read in another posting that you had worked on OMC Stringers.

I have a Stringer setup with the SELECTRIM system. The manifolds and risers have to be replaced. They have to be converted to a center riser. (3.8L SBC) Just debating on whether or not to convert to thru transom or just adapt to current thru the drive. The monkey wrench is the SELECTRIM. Is Coragated exhaust hose flexible enough to handle the trim adjustments?

What are your thoughts?

hello
have never tried it. cant see why it wont work as long as enough slack is in the hose.
dont try the thru-stern. no performance gains and to much noise.

Thanks!

I'll just stick to the original plan. Just a matter of proper plumbing. Have a great one!

Re: ??? for Rodbolt

are you sure your 3.8 is a chevy? my rememberance was that unit had a 3.8 buick but I am old and memory fails and motors do get changed :) .
make sure of your engine though before ordering manifolds. and order a seond set of gaskets. usually they pack the gaskets with the manifolds and by the time they get to you have been smashed beyond use:)

Re: ??? for Rodbolt

No doubt about it. The buick was a 225 cuid and mine is the 229 cuid. OMC used the buick 3.8 even less than the chevy. The 3.8 chevy was built for 4 years and changed to the 4.3 by GM in '86 I think. The manifolds for the 4.3 will also fit the 3.8. I just have to adapt the center riser from the existing rear riser.

Thanks for the heads up on the gaskets.

I knew there was a reason I quit working on those old units :) :) .

the 3.8 was a 305ci V-8 with the two center cylinders removed. The 4.3 is the 350ci with the two center cylinders removed!
