Re: For you hunters

I have never had that close of an encounter with a moose but I have had them within 25 feet which was close enough

Nice video, Reminds me of a time about 15 years ago while turkey hunting i had a doe step between my legs. It was all i could do to keep from reaching out and touching her. Also on another turkey hunting trip i was calling for a friend and i had three toms with in arms reach from me. When they gobble in your ear it hurts.

Re: For you hunters

Looks like a setup, but something similiar happened to my close friend. Ed is an avid hunter, and a few years ago, while hunting, was leaning up against his quad, gun in one hand and cigarette in the other, taking a breather before going back in the trees. Directly behind him, above him on a small ridge, he hears stomping and branches breaking. Thinking it was his hunting partners, and cursing the amount of noise they were causing, turned around to see a large bull towering over him. Startled, he raised his gun and shot the moose in the knee. The moose fell behind the quad and a second shot, up close and personal, kept him there.Strange way to take down a moose.

Now you made me go back and look at it again, yeah, you're right. Didn't look at it very close the first time. Still is cool how a moose will walk up to something that "foreign" in it's territory. Wonder what they put on the broadhead to make it go up and take a sniff.......

Re: For you hunters

Have seen this on a number of occasions ... impressed with the nerves of steel.

While we are telling hunting stories ... years ago, when my dad was still alive and hunting with us, I was set up about 150 yards above dad. I watched him as he fell asleep leaning against a tree with his gun across his lap. 6 doe came walking out of a thicket behind the tree and were milling around there. It was great to watch them so close to dad while he was sleeping. I figured he would soon snore and spook them, but before that happened the deer heard something behind them and crept closer to the tree. Finally, they had enough and took off ... jumping over the barrel of dad's gun as they went. He woke up to the sound of pounding hooves as he watched 6 deer materialize beside him and hooves kicking up in front of his face! I had the best view of the show and busted up laughing when I heard dad laugh so hard he started coughing! That was a great day for him!

Great story about dad and does!
I can sympathize with his perspective.

I am SO guilty of getting up and out way before "false" dawn. I like to be in place, set and comfy, only to fall into deep slumber when that first warming ray of daybreak hits me.

I dont like to and do not chase game down the forestry roads, but when your trying to get to a small lake up in the mountains and one of those swamp donkeys comes out of the bush and starts to saunter down the road AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. get out of the way, 5 miles latter :D
