I have a Force 120 hp 4 cylinder I/O that has a power problem. I have 2 brand new batteries in the boat and trying to start the boat kills the batteries. The stator will turn. Could it be the power packs and if so where can I find them? Checked the compression on each cylinder and each one reads 120. Can't seem to get a spark from plugs. Also I did replace the head gasket after checking the pistons and cylinder walls for scoring-no scoring but when I took off the head some water came out. This motor ran fine for four hours when all of a sudden the hot horn went off-I shut it down but it would not restart and had killed the batteries. What is the proper compression on pistons? Proper ohm readings on power packs? Does the stator, coils and power packs need replacing? If so, where is a good place to buy them?

This could be a very cheap fix...or an expensive one. You say the overheat horn went off, now the engine will not restart as there is no spark.

I would check for a burnt or melted wire that might be grounding the electronics out.

Once you have cleared that up..feel free to contact me and let me know if you need more help.

TMD
