Hi everyone. I am new to this forum. I am considering a 1991 Bayliner 1870 with a Force 120 L-drive. The boat is supposedly in "like new" condition. The motor was supposedly overhauled last year due to lost compression in one of the three cylinders.. It also supposedly has a new impeller. I have not seen the boat yest, but the pics look very nice and clean, and the previous owner sounds like he took good care of it. He says he only put about 40 hours total on it since he bought it 6 years ago. Always garaged, etc. I would only be using this boat on the lake for cruising and skiing. I have rented boats of this same size with 130 hp motors and they pull me out of the water OK. Certainly not like a true ski boat, but OK. My concern is regarding the reliability of the Force and the L-drive, which I know nothing about. My dad owns a 90 Bayliner with the Force 150 outboard. It is well cared for, and has never given him any problems. Is the 120 less reliable? Are there any inherent problems with the L-drive system? BTW, his bottom price is supposedly $4000....
