Force 120 lower unit compatability

The lower unit on my 1990 Force 120 has gone bad. I have access to a 1986 Chrysler 125 and wondered if the lower units were compatible.

They are swappable, provided the engine length is the same--That is 20 inches or 25 inches. However, I believe the gear ratios are different. You may find a loss in speed of a couple of MPH and may need to switch to a prop 2 pitches lower.

Thanks, Frank. I have two 120's on my Trophy and speed is not an issue. Can I swap rectifiers as well?

Only if your 1990 does NOT have the Merc. ignition.
