Force 120hp lower end unit housing

ok guys newbie here, my brother backing the boat up backed into a tree and cracked the lower unit. so my question is can i just by the housing itself or do i need to buy the whole unit gears and all and what are the prices i'm looking at? any and all info is greatly appreciated!

That's not structural damage. Your Bro just broke the antiventilation plate. You can bolt on a piece of thick aluminum under it or if you have the pieces, bring them to a welder. Probably cost about 100 bucks or so.

If you feel you absolutely nees a new case, you can buy just the aluminum case--sometimes if they come up for sale on the auctions. Buying new will be cost prohibitive. AND, when you put back the gearpak, you will need to re-shim the pinion. Close to West Chester? I have lower unit cases. See my private message to you. Yo! Ow you doon? No! Ow YOU doon!

Most times on the auctions you see complete lower units and they will run 150 for a poor condition one on up. Rebuilt units cost 500-1500.
